Class Presentations

For class we were assigned a project where we had to discuss a piece of art.  My group and I chose the famous copper sculpture called “The Thinker”. Another group that really stuck out to me was Max and Mitch’s project on a method of showing music in a visual form.  Most other groups chose a physical form of art like tattoos, sculptures, or paintings, but they chose music. This stuck out to me because I personally consider art to be anything that can convey anything that an artist wants to express.  This leads me to the other presentation that really stuck out to me, which was Alexis’. Alexis’ project was about her personal connection to an Aerosmith song. She felt this connection because her father listened to it shortly after her twin sister passed away.  I have never had such a deep connection to a song in my life, and the emotions that she must feel when she hears that song must be indescribable. I really appreciated that she felt comfortable enough to tell us that story because it is a perfect example of how powerful art can be.

I find it interesting to think about Alexis’s intense connection with this song, too. It makes me think about all the stories, songs, poems, and objects with which I have connected, and I wonder if either of these projects caused you think the same thing.
